Confessions of a closet writer – the beginnings

Why do you call your blog “Confessions of a closet author” you ask? (you were asking that, right?) Okay, here’s the thing…..it’s one thing to make a fool out of yourself in front of strangers….because you have nothing invested in them. If they don’t like my work, so what? It’s another entirely to make a fool out of myself in front of friends and family. I can see their little balloon thoughts over their heads right now. “Really? She thought this was good enough for someone to publish?” or “I thought she was better at grammar than that.” Or better yet “Who does she think she’s gonna be, the next big Stephanie Myer?”

Okay, I admit, on the one hand, one must have a bit of an ego to think they could be a published writer….probably the same as an actor (He thinks he can act? He plays the same role every time!) or a singer (She thinks she can sing? She’s just a hack!). I used to think I didn’t have an ego….but now I believe I was in denial. We’ll see.

I actually started this blog to chronicle my ‘journey’ of writing a book. I hope that some of you might enjoy reading it as much as (I (hope) I enjoy writing it.
